Dr Liu Thai Ker, Director of RSP Architects Planners & Engineers is well known for his role in shaping the Singapore Urban and Public Housing landscape as the Chief Planner and Chief Executive of the Housing and Development Board. He is also currently Chairman of the Centre for Liveable Cities. In this talk, he offers four mental pictures from the various plenaries and forums discussed at the summit.
The first is a consensus about the broad trends affecting cities and urbanisation. The second is how urbanisation takes place by design and not by chance. The third features good governance, the foundation to any urban endeavour. And the final picture, is how spatial planning involves a blueprint that is always self-reinventing.
